Machine Plates & Nameplates
What we manufacture
Engraved machine plates and nameplates are a core part of PWG’s industrial identification work.
Whether you need a one-off identification plate for a refurbished machine, a batch of rating plates for an OEM production run, or a repeat supply of standard data plates for fleet or plant assets, PWG manufactures to your drawings, samples or specifications.
Plates are produced in-house in Dundee using rotary engraving, laser engraving and acid etching, and supplied ready-fitted with the fixings, finishes and surface preparation appropriate to the operating environment.

Common types of machine plates we produce
Most machine plate enquiries fall into one of these categories. PWG can produce all of them in-house, in single units or batch quantities.

Materials we use
The right plate material depends on the operating environment, expected lifespan and visual requirement.
- Anodised aluminium — the most common choice for industrial plates. Lightweight, durable, takes clear engraving and resists corrosion in most environments.
- Stainless steel (304 and 316) — for harsh, chemical, marine or high-temperature environments where aluminium is unsuitable.
- Brass — premium appearance, suited to traditional, commemorative or high-end industrial applications.
- Traffolyte and rigid engraving laminates — cost-effective for higher quantities, available in multiple colours, fast turnaround.
- Photo-anodised aluminium — for highest-detail artwork and long operational life in exposed conditions.
If the operating environment is severe — saline, chemical, high-temperature or UV-exposed — flag this with your enquiry and the PWG team will recommend the appropriate material grade.
Fixings, finishes and marking
Machine plates are supplied with the fixings and finishes appropriate to the application:
- Self-adhesive backing for clean, fast installation on smooth surfaces
- Drilled fixing holes for screw, rivet or bolt fixing
- Corner radius cuts and edge finishing
- Protective laminates for chemical or abrasion resistance
- Standard sizes available; bespoke sizes manufactured to drawing
Where machine plates need to carry specific marking information — for example CE or UKCA marking data, asset numbering, hazard warnings or regulatory data — provide the full specification, layout and any required logos with your enquiry. PWG manufactures the plate to your supplied specification.
