Industrial Engraving

Industrial engraving in Dundee since 1952. PWG Signs engraves plates, labels, tags, panels and bespoke components for industrial, commercial and public sector clients across the UK and internationally.

What we engrave in-house

Engraving is the foundation of PWG. From our Dundee workshop we engrave identification plates, labels, tags, panels and bespoke components, working to your drawings, specifications or samples.

Our workshop runs rotary and laser engraving alongside complementary processes including silk-screen printing, vinyl application, acid etching and plastic fabrication. That means we can produce engraved components as finished, ready-to-fit items — not just blanks.

We support both one-off bespoke projects and ongoing repeat production, with practical advice on the most suitable material, finish and supply route for the job.

Our engraving processes

PWG runs three core engraving processes in-house, selected to suit the material, environment and quantity required.

Rotary engraving

Mechanical engraving for deep, hard-wearing identification on traffolyte, anodised aluminium, brass and rigid engraving laminates. Suited to plates, labels and tags that need to last in industrial environments.

Laser engraving

Fast, fine-detail engraving on plastics, coated metals and acrylic. Suited to small batches, intricate text or logos, sequential serial numbering and prototyping work.

Acid etching

Chemical etching on stainless steel and brass for high-detail identification plates intended for harsh or chemically aggressive environments.

Materials we engrave

PWG engraves on a wide range of industrial materials. The right material depends on the application, environment and expected lifespan.

  • Traffolyte and rigid engraving laminates
  • Anodised aluminium
  • Stainless steel (including 304 and 316 grades)
  • Brass
  • Acrylic, ABS and polycarbonate
  • Sign foam and engraved plastics for commercial use

If you are unsure which material is appropriate, send us your drawing, specification or sample and our team will advise on the most suitable option.
